Building a Monthly Budget That Actually Works
Learn how to create a budget you’ll actually follow — without cutting everything you enjoy or feeling deprived every month.
Read the guideOver 14 years helping 3,000+ households optimize their cash flow and build real savings habits that stick.
Back in 2008, my family was struggling. Not because we earned badly, but because we didn’t understand where the money was going. Every month felt like a surprise — bills piled up, savings stayed empty, and the stress was real. That’s when I realized something obvious: most people don’t need complex investment products. They need to understand their own cash flow.
I started working as a financial advisor at one of Hong Kong’s biggest banks. But after a few years, I was frustrated. I’d sit with clients trying to sell them products they didn’t need when what they really needed was help with their monthly budget. So in 2012, I made the jump into financial education. Best decision I’ve made.
Since then, I’ve worked with over 3,000 Hong Kong families — from young professionals just starting out to multi-generational households managing complex finances. The common thread? They all wanted the same thing: clarity. A practical way to see where money goes, where they could cut without feeling deprived, and how to build savings that actually grow.
Living and working in Wan Chai, I’ve seen firsthand the unique financial pressures facing urban Hong Kong residents. High rent, rising costs, supporting aging parents, funding kids’ education — it’s a lot. My work focuses on helping people navigate these real challenges with strategies that fit their actual lives, not some textbook scenario.

My work centers on practical strategies that work for real people with real constraints.
I help families map their entire financial picture — income, expenses, debt, and savings. We identify spending patterns, find where money’s leaking away, and restructure their budget to align with actual priorities.
From building emergency funds to managing debt strategically, I teach the fundamentals that actually stick. No fancy products, no complex theories — just clear frameworks for making better money decisions.
Working with Hong Kong professionals means understanding high rent, supporting extended family, managing multiple financial obligations. I specialize in strategies tailored to Wan Chai and urban Hong Kong realities.
I develop curriculum and teach courses at CashFlow Academy Limited. My approach combines behavioral finance principles with practical cash flow analysis — helping people understand not just what to do, but why it matters.
I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all financial advice. What works for a young professional in Causeway Bay doesn’t work for a retired couple managing pensions and family support. So I start by listening — understanding your actual situation, your constraints, and what matters to you.
My approach is evidence-based but practical. I combine traditional cash flow analysis with behavioral finance principles because I’ve learned that the best budget is one people actually follow. That means being realistic about habits, acknowledging that you won’t cut everything, and finding sustainable changes instead of unsustainable ones.
I’m direct. You won’t hear corporate jargon or financial product pitches from me. If something’s not working in your budget, I’ll tell you. If a strategy won’t stick, I’ll say so. My job is to help you understand your money and make better decisions — not to make you feel bad about past choices.
And I’m here for the long term. Financial health isn’t a one-time fix. It’s about building habits that adapt as your life changes. I support families through different seasons — career changes, kids starting school, aging parents, market volatility — with strategies that flex with real life.
